EMS Protocols & Point of Entry Plans

The Region II Stroke (CVA) Point of Entry Plan is designed to aid providers in their destination choice for stroke patients. Remember to hail CMED and request a Stroke Alert should be requested for any potential stroke patient with a LKW time of <24 hours. This plan was updated in March 2026.

The Region 2 Trauma Point of Entry Plan matches the state POE plan but details the available assets and destinations in Region 2. Unless you are on the border of the Region, UMass is your typical destination for patients meeting the red or yellow criteria, being our only Trauma Center.

The Region II STEMI Point of Entry Plan includes a flow chart to determine the destination for you patient experiencing ST elevations. This plan has not been changed since 2016.

Emergency Medical Services Statewide Treatment Protocols

In order to work as an EMT, EMS providers must remain up to date with training for the current protocols. Typically they are released at the beginning of every year for  implementation April 1st. 

• Visit the OEMS website for the most current version of the state protocols.

• If you need training on the most current protocol release, CMEMSC supplies training coordinators with resource materials that can be accessed through the TO Portal.
