UPDATED FAQ on Advisory 25-11-1 Limits on EMS Personnel

The Department released the attached OEMS Advisory to remind EMS personnel that if they are not working for an ambulance service then they can only work at the first responder level and cannot hold themselves out as EMTs or paramedics. Under the EMS statute, EMS personnel may only function as EMTs and Paramedics when they are on duty for a licensed ambulance service, licensed EFR service or a Department-approved MIH or CEMS program. In any other context, certified EMS personnel may only provide services at the first responder level and may not advertise or hold themselves out as EMTs and Paramedics.
